Congrats to our Lady Bulldogs in their win over Franklinton yesterday in tennis 8-1.
Attention Parents and Students! Tomorrow, September 20th, students at Nash Central will be taking their school pictures. Parents this is a great opportunity for Christmas gifts to grandparents, aunts and uncles, or to update your living room wall!
Attention Parents, we need your help.
Last week at NCHS, we had 122 student check-outs. This is roughly 11,000 minutes of instruction that was missed. We understand that some of the check-outs are for important appointments and other reasons. However, we are asking parents to work with us to keep students in the building all day long when possible. Research shows that students who stay in school all day receive better grades which results in better outcomes post-high school and a more positive social-emotional connection with their peers.

Lady Bulldogs with the sweep of Bunn this afternoon. Congrats ladies!
Parents, we open our doors at 6:50 am. Last week, students dropped off before 7:20 had plenty of time to get to class by 7:30. It takes a good 6-7 minutes to walk from the parking lot, through the EVOLV system, and walk to class by 7:30. Please help us by getting your child to school earlier. Again, instruction begins at 7:30, anyone not in class by 7:30 will be marked tardy.
Big Big Big Win for the Bulldogs. 65-0 over Goldsboro. Bulldogs are 3-0.
The connection between the prioritization of essential life skills and the Nash County Public Schools' Fine Arts Department, specifically the Dance program, is significant from an academic standpoint.
1. Communication: Dance is a form of non-verbal communication. It requires students to express emotions, ideas, and stories through movement. This strengthens their ability to communicate effectively, not only in artistic contexts but also in everyday interactions.
2. Creativity and Problem-Solving: Dance encourages creative thinking and problem-solving. Choreography involves making artistic decisions, considering movement choices, and structuring performances. These skills translate to analytical thinking and innovation in academic subjects.
3. Adaptability: Dance often involves adapting to different styles, music, and choreographic changes. This nurtures students' adaptability and flexibility, preparing them to navigate diverse academic challenges.
4. Teamwork: Many dance routines require collaboration and coordination among dancers. Learning to work as a team to create a cohesive performance cultivates teamwork skills applicable in group projects and academic settings.
5. Discipline and Time Management: The dedication and practice required in dance instill discipline and effective time management—essential skills that enhance academic performance.
6. Confidence and Self-expression: Dance builds self-confidence as students master new movements and perform in front of audiences. This confidence carries over to academic presentations and public speaking.
7. Resilience: Overcoming challenges and striving for improvement in dance mirrors the resilience needed to persevere in academic endeavors.
Students acquire these essential life skills by engaging in the Dance program, creating a well-rounded academic experience. These skills contribute to their overall academic success by fostering a strong foundation for personal growth, effective communication, creative problem-solving, and collaboration—all essential for thriving in academic and real-world scenarios.
