I believe that educating a child involves many stakeholders including parents, school staff, and community.  If a child is guaranteed to succeed at school, each of these components must play a positive role in the student’s upbringing.  It is my job to guarantee the success for each child at Nash Central High School.  Our staff and I will do our best to help ensure the other two stakeholders, parents and community, are a successful component to each students’ educational needs.

I have a diverse educational background.  I graduated with my associates degree from Pitt Community College where I played baseball for the Bulldogs.  After PCC, I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with a Public Policy Analysis degree.  After working in the business world for a couple years, I attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where I received a Masters of Divinity.  After teaching for a few year, I received another masters degree in School Administration from East Carolina University. Finally, I earned a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

This will be year 12 as a principal in Eastern North Carolina. I spent five years as an elementary school principal; two years as a middle school principal; and this will be the start of year five as a high school principal.

I am honored to be the principal at Nash Central High School.  We have an active community, rich traditions, eager students, and a fantastic staff.  Our staff is privileged to serve the students living in our surrounding communities. Will you partner with us to make this the best school in Nash County?

I found my way to Nash Central after serving as an administrator, teacher, and counselor in independent, charter, and public schools. My family moved to North Carolina in 2009 and we love it! My son is a 2021 graduate of the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

I am the product of Baltimore City, Maryland and their public school system. I graduated with a BS in Mathematics and a Minor in Computer Information Systems from the now NC Wesleyan University (Formerly NC Wesleyan College). I started my educational career in Baltimore City, working in both the public and private sector teaching mathematics for 4 years. Upon the expiration of my dad, I relocated to Rocky Mount, NC with my then 8 year old daughter and landed my first position at NCHS in 2003. In 2006, I decided to try middle school and worked at JW Parker until 2010. In 2010, I moved to Manassas, Virginia where I taught math for 2 years and was a Middle School dance coach. After getting engaged in 2012, I relocated back to Rocky Mount, NC and married my loving and supportive husband; Mr. RaJhon Deans. After being back in Rocky Mount, I worked in Wilson County Public Schools for the 1st semester, then returned to Nash County Public Schools and taught at Edwards Middle School; at which time I was nominated and the recipient of the Nash County Public Schools' Middle School Teacher of the Year during the 2014-2015 school year. Being a lifelong learner, I established advanced degrees that lead me to an instructional leader with the district, an alternative school director for the district and now returning to the place that acclimated me to Rocky Mount as an Assistant Principal at NCHS. My journey has been rewarding and the establishment of positive relationships with our future makes this career that much sweeter.
