Mrs. Bailey
I started my teaching career in 2006 in middle school. I have a bachelor's degree in Middle and High School Education, concentrating in History and English. Driven by a passion for students' well-being and emotional support, I earned my Masters in School Counseling (K-12) in 2014 and started high school counseling. With dual experience as an educator and counselor, my goal is to understand and meet students' needs holistically. I am married to Hart, and we are blessed to have a daughter, Alexis, and son, Djimon.

This is my second year being a Bulldog, my 5th year being a school counselor and my 18th year in education! I began my career in education in 2007 teaching FACS in Pitt County, and have held various jobs in the education field since then. I have worked as a college liaison and university instructional coordinator, which led me to pursue school counseling. I have a double major Bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education (FACS) and Family and Community Service, as well as a Master's in FACS Education and a Master's in Counselor Education, all from ECU.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children, going to church, doing CrossFit, running and reading.

Mrs. Sondergard
This is my 23rd year as a School Counselor and my 7th year at Nash Central High School. I graduated from the University of the North Carolina at Wilmington with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and East Carolina University with a graduate degree in Counselor Education. I love working with high school students to help them prepare for life after high school, whether that is as a college student, a member of the military or a member of the workforce. I have been married to my husband, Brett, for 26 years and we have two children. Our son, Owen, graduated from North Carolina State University in May 2023 and is working as an engineer with United Rentals in their Trench Safety Division. Our daughter, Emily, is a junior at East Carolina University, where she is in the Honors College and is majoring in BioMedical Engineering.

Hello! My name is Amari Poindexter, and I’m thrilled to be the College Advisor at NCHS. I’m here to assist seniors with their college, military, and workforce aspirations. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Chinese. Fun fact: I’ve traveled to over 10 countries! I’m excited to work with you this year!

This is my 9th year as a school social worker and my 4th year at Nash Central High School. I graduated with my BSW from Elizabeth City State University in 2007. I also hold a MS in Human Behavior. My daily goal is to laugh and inspire those around me. I firmly believe that in order to teach the head, you must first gain the trust of the heart.

Mrs. Spell
I am and have been the school nurse at NCHS for 19 years. It is hard to believe I have been a nurse for 29 years now. Time is a thief. I earned my BSN from Barton College and I am a nationally certified school nurse. I am married and I have two sons (Langdon 24 and Lance 21 and one step son( DJ age 28). Both of my sons grew up swimming and my youngest, Lance, swims for NC State now...Go Pack! I love Bible study, group fitness, talks with my oldest son Langdon, cheering on the Pack at swim meets, traveling, and long walks with my husband!

I am a product of the Washington DC Public Schools System, I'm also a Shaw University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work. I worked for the Nash County Dept. of Social Services in the Children Services Unit, where I was an off-campus employee working with Communities In Schools, first as the CIS Social Worker for all schools participating in the program. In 2013, still under Nash County Social Services, I became the CIS Student Support Specialist for NCHS. I retired from Nash County in July 2022, and was hired in August 2022 to continue working the CIS Program here at NCHS. I am married with three biological children and two adopted children.

Mr. Walker
This is my 3rd year as Dean of Students at NCHS. I am a graduate of the historic Shaw University and Shaw Divinity School with Majors in Public Administration and Master's of Theology. I've served the Walnut Grove Church in Louisburg NC as Pastor for 28 years. I am married to the lovely and retired Annette D. Walker (former Principal of Princeville Elementary). We are blessed with 2 children, T.J. Walker Jr. and Timisha Joy Walker. We are also blessed with 5 grandchildren.

Officer Watson
Hello! My name is Officer Brandon Watson, and I have been a Police Officer 7 years. I started out on patrol and loved the night shift. The adrenaline rush that comes with it was what I was searching for. But then I realized no matter how hard you work, and what field you are in, it all is the same at the end of the day. That is when I decided I wanted to work with students.
I have been a SRO for going on 3 years now and have worked at 4 different schools. I have worked all different grade levels. I started out with elementary schools (Baskerville and Williford), moving on to middle school (Parker) and finally landed at high school (Nash Central). Nash Central has been my favorite school. For several reasons, but the biggest reason is there is always something to do; whether it be a game, dance, or speaking with the students and gaining their trust. For those reasons alone, I consider Nash Central students and staff like family and want nothing but the best for my students and staff
