Career and Technical Education

The mission of Career and Technical Education is to help empower students to be successful citizens, workers, and leaders in a global economy. Programs in career and technical education are designed to contribute to the broad educational achievements of students. We want to ensure all students graduate from high school ready for college, careers, and life.

This is my 24rd year in education and my 5th year at Nash Central High School. I am deeply committed to empowering students to achieve their college and career goals.

I graduated from Mount Olive College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Organizational Development. I obtained Master’s degrees from Grand Canyon University (Curriculum and Instruction) and Garner-Webb University (Educational Leadership). As a result of being committed to lifelong learning, I obtained my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Trevecca University.

My most honored titles are Wife, Mom, Mimi, and Auntie! My greatest blessing is my family! I am married to my incredibly supportive husband, Mr. Roy McDowell. I am the proud mother of one daughter and two bonus children. I am blessed to be MiMi to six grandchildren and two “honorary” grandchildren.

I am looking forward to an amazing school year! Go Bulldogs!!!

This is my 22nd year teaching Health Science at Nash Central High School. I graduated from Nash Community College with an Associate's Degree in Nursing and attended NC State University to obtain my teaching certificate. I am grateful for the opportunity to work as a CTE teacher, where combining the arts of nursing and teaching has become my life's work.

I am a 2012 Graduate of NCHS. I graduated from Nash Community College with my Associates Degree in Nursing and continued my education at the University of Texas at Arlington for my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I am excited to share my passion for nursing and healthcare with each and every student.

 

 

Mr. Hunter

I am a retired firefighter with over 30 years of service dedicated to protecting lives, property, and community safety.  After retirement, I transitioned into a HS Fire Technology instructor, sharing real-world experience and industry knowledge with the next generation of fire service professionals.  Passionate about mentoring students, my courses combine practical skills with classroom instruction to prepare future firefighters for both the challenges and rewards of the profession.  My outside interests are family first and lots of sports activities.  I have served as a girls soccer coach for several years.  I have been married for 30+yrs and we have 2 daughters.

This is my 12th year Teaching Automotive at Nash Central High School. I will also be entering my 9th year as the Head Coach of Varsity Baseball. I am an ASE certified technician. Prior to teaching I worked in the automotive industry for 25 years. I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughters.

This is my 22nd year teaching high school. I have a Bachelors in Interior Design from ECU and a Masters in School Counseling from Liberty University. I am the proud Gigi of a 5 year old and 3 year old grandsons. I have been married for 38 years and we have a son that is a Structural Engineer and a daughter that is a Pharmacist.

I am a 2016 graduate of NCHS and I am currently in my fifth year teaching CTE/Business. I graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan in 2020 and received my MBA in 2021. I was also a member of the baseball team for four years. I am an assistant varsity baseball coach and head JV baseball coach. I am looking forward to a successful school year in the classroom and on the field.

This is my 8th year teaching CTE Business and Computer Science at Nash Central High School. I graduated from NC Wesleyan University in 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems. I graduated from Strayer University with a Master's Degree in Business Administration. I believe that teaching and learning go hand-in-hand. I strive to make learning fun and to learn something new every single day.

This is my 19th year teaching Culinary Arts at Nash Central High School. I graduated from Meredith College in 1987 with a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics and attended ECU to obtain my teaching certificate. I am very passionate about teaching a CTE course that incorporates hands on learning. My students benefit from the knowledge gained in our classroom and can apply these techniques as life skills or continue their success in a foodservice career!

I teach Child Development and Early Childhood Education in the Family Consumer Sciences Department. This is my 18th year teaching and all have been here at Nash Central, even my student teaching year. My husband and I have two daughters as well as our beloved fur baby. I enjoy seeing young adults spark an interest in how children grow and develop.
